Are Motion Comics on the Rise?
Comic books have seriously started to branch off into several new and exciting directions. The introduction of various new devices to read comic books and interact with them has truly grown the business of comics all together. There are many different forms of comic books that we read everyday these include: physical and digital copies, E-Books, flash Based, web and mobile comics.
One of the questions that people often ask is: “What is the next phase of comic books, and will it be a significant one?” In recent years, more and more publishers began using the comic book trailer to market their product, with this a new medium was formed and motion comics began. Motion comics first appearance was from a book from Ashley Wood, the Metal Gear comic series found below:
Aaron Albert of About.com has written an article and discusses the invasion of Motion Comics on the rise. Here is an excerpt:
“One of the things to come out of this electric age of easy to access software programs is motion comics. Some people are making their own, using programs like Flash to animate their webcomics. Others have used this technology to create adaptations of comics currently out there, such as the motion comics adaptation of the Watchmen comics. I’ve seen a couple recently that caught my eye. One was a indie made endeavor and the other is from a group with large pockets behind it.”

Motion graphic novels will continue to evolve with the likes of new mobile devices such as the iPad and iPod Touch. They will become a new form of entertainment and something of great value to new and avid comic book fans.
